Manusmriti in Telugu pdf

Manusmriti, also known as Manu Dharma Sastram, is one of the ancient Hindu law books that contains the teachings of Manu, the mythical progenitor of humanity. It is considered to be one of the most authoritative sources of Hindu social and religious norms, covering topics such as varna system, marriage, inheritance, dharma, karma, and punishment. Manusmriti has influenced the legal and cultural history of India and other countries where Hinduism was prevalent.

Manusmriti was originally composed in Sanskrit, probably between 2nd and 3rd century CE. It consists of 12 chapters and 2,684 verses. The text is presented as a dialogue between Manu and Bhrigu, one of the sages. The text claims to be derived from the words of Brahma, the creator god. Manusmriti is divided into four sections: creation, sources of dharma, civil and criminal law, and penance and rebirth.

The first section deals with the creation of the world, the four yugas (ages), the four varnas (classes), and the duties and virtues of Brahmins. The second section describes the rules of student life, the duties of a teacher, and the sacraments. The third section discusses the rites of marriage, the duties of a householder, the permissible and prohibited food, and the 21 types of hell. The fourth section explains the rules of renunciation, the duties of a king, the daily conduct, the judicial procedure, the inheritance law, the mixed castes, the sins, and the three types of merit.

Manusmriti is one of the most translated Sanskrit texts in history. The first English translation was done by Sir William Jones in 1776. It was used by the British East India Company to formulate Hindu law for their enclaves. Manusmriti has also been translated into many other languages, including Telugu. Telugu is a Dravidian language spoken by about 80 million people in India and other countries. It is one of the classical languages of India and has a rich literary tradition.

There are several Telugu translations of Manusmriti available online in pdf format. One of them is by Nallandighal Lakshminarasimhacharya (2000), who translated Manusmriti from Sanskrit to Telugu with commentary. This translation can be downloaded for free from [the Internet Archive]. Another translation is by Gayatree Prachuranalu (2000), who published Manusmriti in Telugu with annotations. This translation can be purchased from [Devullu.com], an online Telugu books store that specializes in mantra, yantra, tantra, astrology, and other spiritual books.

Manusmriti is a valuable source of information for anyone interested in Hinduism, law, history, culture, and society. It reflects the worldview and values of ancient India and its influence on later generations. However, it also contains some controversial and outdated views on caste, gender, violence, and justice that are not compatible with modern human rights and ethics. Therefore, it should be read with a critical and historical perspective.
